PM O
peration
This tests the operation of the PM function. After the 3152B
locks to
an external trigger source, the start phase of the 3152B
can be
modified in reference to the external signal using dc levels. The DC
levels are applied to the PM input and control phase shifts of 20°/V.
PM Checks
Equipment: Counter, DC supply source, function generator
Preparation:
1. Configure the function generator as follows:
Waveform: Square
Amplitude: 1 Vp-p
Output: On
Frequency: 1 kHz
2. Referring to Figure 6-1 (above), connect the function generator
output to a “T” connector at the counter CH A input. Connect
the other side of the “T” connector to the 3152B TRIG/PLL IN
connector. Use a 50 feed-through terminator at the 3152B
TRIG/PLL IN connector.
3. Configure the counter as follows:
Function: φ AB
CH A Input: High impedance
CH B Input: 50
4. Connect the 3152B output to the counter CH B input.
5. Configure the DC source as follows:
Amplitude: As required (see Table 6-34)
6. Connect the DC source to the 3152B PM input.
7. Configure the 3152B as follows:
Function Mode: Arbitrary
Waveform: Square
Wavelength: 36 points
Output: On
PLL: On
Test Procedure:
1. For each test step (row) in Table 6-34, set the DC source
amplitude as indicated.
2. Read and record the phase reading displayed by the counter
