3. Position the two top logs (#3) on the
top of the middle and bottom logs, as
shown in Fig. 18-3. Locate the logs
by fitting one end into the notch on
a middle log (#2), and the other two
ends into the notches at the end of
each of the bottom logs, with the “3”
facing outermost, as shown in Fig. 18-3.

18-2. Locate the logs so that each one
fi ts into 2 notches; one end on each
bottom log, and one end (engraved with
a “2”) at the end of the corresponding
log, forming a stable square.

4 EASY STEPS TO LOG PLACEMENT
Each log in your log set is numbered to aid in the log placement procedures, and also has seating
notches which stabilize the logs together in their correct position.
1. Using the top burner supports as log
positioners, set the two bottom logs
(#1) in their approximate positions
on the grate, as shown in Fig. 18-1.
Ensure that the positioners slot
into the back of each bottom log.

4. Position the two top logs (#4) on the
top of logs #3 and the bottom logs, as
shown in Fig. 18-4. Locate the logs so
that they rest with one end in the notch
on log #3 and the other (the “V” end) into
the remaining notches on the bottom log.
