PRE-INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Never use propane gas in a set manufactured for natural gas.
This Real-Fyre
®
glass burner is to be installed
only in a fully vented, noncombustible fi replace
with an open damper. The chimney must be
free of any obstructions. The fi replace must
be designed and approved to burn wood. Your
Real-Fyre
®
glass set is designed to burn with
yellow, smoky fl ames. For this reason, it must
be adequately vented. The fi replace fl ue must
be at least 8" at its smallest dimension. If it
is smaller, do not use this Real-Fyre
®
glass
set.
The fi replace must have a gas-supply line that
has been installed by a qualifi ed technician in
accordance with all local codes. The gas-supply
line must be ½" minimum interior diameter. If
the gas line to the fi replace is longer than 20',
a larger-diameter line may be necessary.
Required gas pressure: The minimum inlet
gas supply pressure for the purpose of input
adjustment is 5" of water column (w.c.) for
natural gas, 11" w.c. for propane.
The maximum inlet gas-supply pressure is 10.5"
w.c. for natural gas, and 13" for propane.
The chimney damper must be fi xed in a manner
which will maintain at least the minimum
permanent vent opening at all times (use the
damper clamp shown in Fig. 12-1).

PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE SET, the gas-
supply line must be tested. Follow the
guide lines set by NFPA 54 or local code
requirements.
A. Ensure the gas supply to the fi replace is turned
off.
B. Clean the fl oor of the fi replace of any dirt or
ashes.
C. Chimney must be cleaned and inspected.
It is recommended that complete fi rebox dimensions (front width, back
wall, and height) be obtained to ensure proper sizing.
