LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS - SERIES 26 PILOT VALVE
1. Turn the knob
clockwise
to OFF
only when
complete
shutdown is

The Real-Fyre
®
burner system has a pilot that can be lit by hand using a match or lighter. When lighting the pilot,
follow these instructions exactly. Periodically check the pilot fl ame to make sure it touches the thermocouple,
as shown below, when lit. If it doesn't shut off the unit immediately, contact a qualifi ed professional installer or
your gas supplier to correct the problem.
BEFORE LIGHTING, smell all around the burner area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the fl oor, as some gas is
heavier than air and will settle on the fl oor. IF YOU SMELL GAS, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON P. 1.
Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas control knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not push in or turn
by hand, don't try to repair it. Call a qualifi ed professional service technician. Force or attempted repair may
result in fi re or explosion.
Do not use this appliance if any part has been underwater. Immediately call for a qualifi ed professional service
technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control that has
been underwater.
FOR YOUR SAFETY, READ BEFORE LIGHTING
LIGHTING THE PILOT
1. To light the pilot from the PILOT position (Fig.
25-1
), push in slightly on the knob and turn to the
OFF position (
Fig. 25-1).
Note: The burner control knob cannot be turned from
PILOT to OFF unless the handle is pushed in
slightly. Do not force.
Wait fi ve (5) minutes, then turn the safety valve knob to
the PILOT position.
2. Push the knob fully in, and at the same time place
a long lighted match or long-necked lighter at the
pilot burner. The pilot should light. Hold the knob in
for approximately 60 seconds. If the pilot does not
stay lit, turn to the full OFF position (
Fig. 25-1).
Wait fi ve (5) minutes and, if the pilot will not light,
repeat steps 1 and 2.
If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries, turn the
gas control handle to OFF and call your service
technician or the gas supplier.
HOW TO TURN THE GAS BURNER SYSTEM
ON AND OFF USING YOUR SAFETY PILOT
KIT
Be sure the damper is fully open when
operating this gas appliance.
1. To light the burner from the PILOT position
when pilot is lit (
Fig. 25-1), turn the knob 90°
counterclockwise
to the ON position (Fig.
25-1
).
2. To extinguish the burner from the ON position
(
Fig. 25-1), turn the knob 90° clockwise
to the PILOT position (
Fig. 25-1).
Note: Periodically check the pilot fl ame for proper
ame pattern (
Fig. 25-1).
3. To extinguish the pilot from the PILOT position
(
Fig. 25-1), push in slightly on the knob and
turn 90° clockwise
to the OFF position (Fig.
25-1
).
