TROUBLESHOOTING
If you have trouble with your unit, please use this list to identify the problem. By trying one or more of the solutions
to the possible cause, you should be able to solve the problem. If this list does not cover your present problem,
or if you have other technical diffi culties with your unit, please contact your local dealer or visit our web site at

1. Reference the LOG SET and GLOWING EMBERS sections
for proper placement.
2. Reference the AIR SHUTTER ADJUSTMENT section to
properly adjust.
3. Check venting system for proper air fl ow / venting.
Whistling coming
from insert
1. Normal operating noise
2. Obstructed orifi ce opening,
or fl ashback
3. Flex line over-bent.
1. Lower the fl ame to reduce the operating noise. (Lowering the
fl ame will reduce the heat output of the appliance.)
2. If noise is excessive, have a qualifi ed professional service
technician check the burners and the pilot orifi ces.
3. Straighten bends in fl ex line or replace if whistling still occurs.
A change in fl ame
appearance or burner
operation
1. Change in gas pressure
2. Improper log or ember
placement
1. Contact the gas supplier to check gas pressure.
2. Reference the LOG SET and GLOWING EMBERS sections
for proper placement.
Low fl ame
1. Low gas pressure
2. The fl ame height is set to the
lowest setting
3. Blocked burner ports
4. Faulty valve
1. Contact the gas supplier to check gas pressure.
2. Use remote transmitter to change fl ame height as desired
(see REMOTE OPERATING section).

Main burner turns on,
then goes out
1. Gas not reaching appliance

1. Check the gas supply and gas shut-off valve.
2. Check venting system to ensure that the intake vent pipe
coming from the termination connects to the intake port on the
appliance below, and that the
exhaust vent pipe coming from
the termination connects to the exhaust port on the appliance.

1. Establish a proper air fl ow by operating the pilot (only) for
approximately 10 minutes. For models vented 20' or more
ensure the air restrictor is installed and the air shutter is
adjusted.
