SECTION 4 - EMERGENCY & FIRST-AID PROCEDURES
EYE: Immediately flush eyes with water; remove contact
lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue
flushing eyes for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting
the upper and lower lids. Get medical aid immediately,
preferably from an ophthalmologist.
SKIN: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash exposed area
with soap and water. If symptoms persist, seek medical
attention.
INGESTION: Seek medical attention from a physician,
medical facility, or poison control center. Do not induce
vomiting unless directed to by a medical professional. If
individual is drowsy or unconscious, do not give anything
by mouth.
INHALATION: If overcome by vapor move victim to fresh
air. If person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance;
provide artificial respiration, preferably mouth-to-
mouth, if possible. Call a physician for further treatment
advice.
NOTICE TO PHYSICIANS: No additional measures are
noted.
SECTION 5 – FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use CO
2
(Carbon Dioxide), dry
chemical, or water fog.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: No hazardous
decomposition products are anticipated.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: This product is
an aerosol product for which Flame Projection is 0 in.
However, temperatures above 120 °F may cause the
pressurized cans to burst.
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: To avoid bursting of
cans, a water spray should be used to cool cans in the
vicinity of the fire or excessive heat.
SECTION 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: Avoid getting material in
eyes or mouth, or prolonged exposure to skin. Thus,
protective eyewear and gloves are recommended.
Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
Product may make floors slippery.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Prevent release of
unused product to the environment if possible. Avoid
discharge to natural waters.
MATERIALS FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEAN-UP: Spills
should be contained immediately using an inert
adsorbent material (e.g., sand). The use of water to flush
away large spills can result in additional gelling or
foaming. Transfer liquid and contaminated solid waste to
containers suitable for recovery or disposal in
accordance with federal and local regulations.
REFERENCE TO OTHER SECTIONS: For additional disposal
directions and reporting requirements, please refer to
Section 13.
SECTION 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE
PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING: Use with safety
glasses. Wash thoroughly and immediately after handling
or wear gloves. Use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid
contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Avoid ingestion and
inhalation. Keep away from children.
STORAGE: Store in a cool, dry location. Keep container
tightly closed. Maintain adequate ventilation.
SPECIAL STORAGE CONSIDERATIONS: Store cans away
from heat, sparks, flame, and other sources of ignition.
SECTION 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL
PROTECTION MEASURES
EXPOSURE LIMITS:
For the component, 2-butoxyethanol:
ACGIH TLV 20 PPM (Skin)
OSHA PEL 50 PPM (Skin)
For the component, butane:
ACGIH TLV 800 PPM
For the component, propane:
ACGIH TLV 2500 PPM
OSHA PEL 1000 PPM
ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Handle product in accordance
with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Use
with adequate general and local exhaust ventilation.
When using indoors, keep windows and doors open until
fumes dissipate. Wash thoroughly after possible contact
with this material.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Please wear
appropriate person protective equipment for handling of
this product as indicated below.
EYE PROTECTION: Chemical splash goggles are advised.
SKIN PROTECTION: Use gloves to minimize dermal
exposure.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Normal use of this product
should not require special protective measures. If
workplace exposure limits are expected to be exceeded,
a NIOSH/MSHA approved air supplied respirator is
advised.
