Baery & Charging
What can I do to increase the range?
Many factors which inuence the range are
incontrollable. However, there are a few ps for the
trained cyclist to increase their distance travelled on a
single baery charge.
Make sure the re pressure is correct
An under inated re results in a lot of drag which
diminished the eciency of the motor strongly.
Make sure the re is inated close to the maximum
indicated pressure (see side of the re wall)
Change gears in me
With the powerful motor assistance it almost feels
unnecessary, but be aware that changing your
gears in me can make a major dierence in the
eecve range of your baery charge. Especially
taking o at a trac light in the wrong gear can
cost a lot of extra energy.
Try a lower power assistance level
Especially on at terrain, under normal
circumstances the highest assistance levels on the
motor are too powerful. Somemes a lower level
can lead to a more comfortable experience. If a
long range is your goal, try a lower assistance level.
You will see you’ll get a lot further!
Why is there such a big dierence between the
minimum and maximum advised range?
As indicated, the main factor that inuences range is
the chosen power assistance mode. Especially the rear
drive motor, which powers the Performance RD9.2 and
RD10 models, has a very energy ecient lowest power
level. This results in a long range. At higher power levels
the range decreases fast, as can be seen from the graph
below.

Besides the power assistance level there are more
factors that inuence the range, such as:
Total weight (bike + cyclist + luggage)
Total resistance or drag (wind, re pressure, gears,
road condion and altude variaon)
Outside temperature
Baery age (the capacity of a baery decreases
with me, about 5-10% per year)
