Chapter 4 USB Interface
Introduction
There are four options for USB connection:
USB HID Keyboard: The engine’s transmission is simulated as USB keyboard input with no need for command
configuration or a driver. Barcode data could be entered by the virtual keyboard directly and it is also convenient for the
host device to receive data.
USB CDC: It is compliant with the standard USB CDC class specifications defined by the USB-IF and allows the host device
to receive data in the way as a serial port does. A driver is needed when using thisfeature.
HID POS (POS HID Barcode Scanner): It is based on the HID interface, with no need for a custom driver. It excels virtual
keyboard and traditional RS-232 interface in transmission speed.
IBM SurePOS: It conforms to IBM (now Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions) 4698 USB scanner interface specifications.
When the engine is connected to both USB and RS-232 ports on a host device, it will select the USB connection by default.
