INSTALLATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
Substrate must be sound and cleaned so there is no dust, dirt,
grease, wax, oil or any other contaminants. A new concrete substrate
should be cured for a minimum of 28 days. WEAR NIOSH
APPROVED DUST MASK, such as N95, to avoid breathing any dust
generated from surface preparation. Roughen any smooth surfaces
with sandpaper, a wire brush or other equipment that will give a
roughened profile. A roughened surface is critical to ensure good
adhesion. Bonding surfaces should be prepared in advance, prior to
dispensing the material. This product is designed for adhesive
bonding or small surface patch repairs.
Surface patch repairs should have a surface area of 5 inch by 5 inch
(125 mm by 125 mm) or smaller with a depth of ½ in to 1 in (13 mm to
25 mm). The patch should be ½ inch (13 mm) to 1½ inch (38 mm)
deep. Because of its high strength, this product is not designed for
feather edging. The edges of the surface patch must be square cut to
a minimum depth of ½ inch (13 mm), but should be no deeper than
the patch at that location. The edges may be cut with a grinder or a
circular saw using a diamond or concrete abrasive blade. Remove all
DUST prior to applying QUIKRETE® Epoxy Concrete Repair.
MIXING
WEAR IMPERVIOUS GLOVES, such as nitrile! PREVENT ALL
CONTACT WITH SKIN, EYES OR CLOTHING. IMMEDIATELY
remove any material which has contacted skin.
1) Remove plastic cap. Remove plug from threaded end of cartridge.
2) Place cartridge into a 10 fl oz caulking gun.
3) Attach mixing nozzle to cartridge and dispense a small amount of
material until a desired consistent color with no streaks is obtained.
For best results, plan to consume an entire cartridge at one time with
no interruption. If material remains in the cartridge after completing
the current application, you may carefully replace plug & cap on
partially used cartridge and store temporarily. You may then use
remaining material without a nozzle by dispensing equal parts of
white and dark gray materials into a disposable container and stirring
with a flat disposable stirrer (paint stirrer or plastic knife) until gray
with no streaks; then applying with the stirrer.
NEVER RE-USE NOZZLES AND DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE
ADHESIVE OUT OF A HARDENED MIXING NOZZLE.
APPLICATION
WEAR IMPERVIOUS GLOVES, such as nitrile! Apply the uniformly
mixed material to one of the surfaces to be bonded. It may be
necessary to use temporary mechanical fastening to hold repair piece
in place until the adhesive has cured for a minimum of 3 hours at 75
ºF (24 ºC). It is important to utilize temporary mechanical fastening for
challenging applications involving significant sized pieces of repair or
future significant weight. Lower temperatures will increase cure time
and higher temperatures will decrease cure time. For surface patch
repairs to damaged concrete, fill the void with material above the
surface level and trowel flush. Compressing the cartridge plunger
half-way fully dispenses all material.
SPILL OR LEAK
Ventilate area. Collect with absorbent material. Wear proper personal
protective equipment. Cured product can be removed only
