5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
5.1. PROTECTION OF FIRE FIGHTERS:
5.1.1. Fire Fighting Instructions:
5.1.2. For fires involving this material, do not enter any enclosed or confined fire space without proper
protective equipment, including self‐contained breathing apparatus.
5.2. Extinguishing Media:
5.2.1. Use water fog, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide (CO
2
) to extinguish flames.
5.3. Special Firefighting Procedures:
5.3.1. Move containers from fire area if you can do so without risk.
5.4. Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards:
5.4.1. Pressure increase in over heated closed containers. Cool containers with water spray.
5.5. Hazardous Combustion Products
5.5.1. May include oxides of phosphorus. Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
6.1. Spill Procedures:
6.1.1. Should not be released into the environment. This product is miscible in water
6.1.2. Large Spills: Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Dike the spilled material, where this is
possible. Cover with plastic sheet to prevent spreading. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place
into containers. Following product recovery, flush area with water
6.1.3. Small Spills: Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove
residual contamination.
6.1.4. Never return spills in original containers for re‐use. For waste disposal, see section 13 of the MSDS.
6.1.5. ELIMINATE all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames in immediate area). Stop the flow of
material, if this is without risk. Dike the spilled material, where this is possible. Use water spray to reduce
vapors or divert vapor cloud drift. Prevent entry into waterways, sewer, basements or confined areas.
6.2.
Waste Disposal:
6.2.1. Assure conformity with applicable disposal regulations. Dispose of absorbed material at approved waste
site
