Installation Prerequisites - Tools Required
Required Tools and Materials
You
will
need the
following
tools
and
materials
to
install
the EdgeMarc:
Ethernet
cables—To
connect the
LAN
ports
to
LAN
switches or to
individual VoIP devices.
Power Surge Protection
EdgeMarc
units are designed with
a
robust
internal
surge protection system.
For
more
effective
surge protection, it
is
recommended
that
the
EdgeMarc
be
plugged
into
an external surge protector or UPS.
Installing EdgeMarc 6000 in a Rack
EdgeMarc
6000
is
the width of
a
rack mount.
It
is unnecessary to
attach rack-mount ears.
Installing EdgeMarc 6000 on a Desktop, Shelf, or Tray
1.
Remove
the
EdgeMarc
device
and
accessories
from
the
shipping
container.
Connecting the
Power
Cables
The
EdgeMarc
6000 includes an AC
power
adapter
for
connecting
to
an AC
outlet.
1. If
you are connecting to
an Internet
router
or
Internet
DMZ
switch,
connect
the
Ethernet
cable
to
the
WAN Interface port
(Port
2)
on the
EdgeMarc
and
the
other
end
to
the
WAN device.
