● Made of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) corrugated plastic
● Brittleness temperature to -103 degrees F (ASTM D746) and deflection temperature of +162 degrees F aT 66 PSI (ASTM D648)
● Burn rate of 2.5 inches/minute (ASTM D6350-91)
● Self ignition temperature of 734 degrees F (ASTM D1929-91a)
● Smoke density of 9.3% (ASTM D2843-93) “excellent”
IMPACT RESISTANCE
● ASTM D3746 impact resistance testing
WATER ABSORPTION
● Long term water exposure to polyethylene results in little to no water absorption (0.001 to 0.01 percent ASTM D570)
UV RESISTANCE
● Polyethylene manufactured with 0.5% by weight carbon black, providing the product with significant UV resistance
● Quarrix Furring Strips are designed for adequate short term exposure to sunlight without negative effect (1 year)
● Product must be installed under siding for long term use
COMPRESSION & SHEER STRENGTH
● Compressive strength to buckling of this board is 130 psi with 180lb/msf board (TAPPI T-804 ref. ASTM D-642)
ADHESIVES
● Quarrix Furring Strips have been corona treated to help with bonding
● Use butyl sealants conforming to ASTM C1085; latex sealant conforming to ASTM C834; silicone sealant complying with ASTM C920
