When Suppress Output is checked for a layer, that layer displays unchecked by
default in the Layers pane of the Print dialog box, and consequently that layer
will not print (unless you check the layer manually in the Print dialog box).
The Print dialog box provides settings for controlling which layers will print.
To change the default print setting for new layers, check Suppress Output in
the Layers panes of the Preferences dialog box (QuarkXPress/Edit menu).
Object (Boxes) browser support with layers
Most modern applications working with graphics, illustration and photo editing
solutions work on a layer-based system. The QuarkXPress also supports a
layering system for placing and interacting design on different layers and do
some specific operations on a particular object.
With the QuarkXPress layers, the objects can be placed and managed in the
palette, making it easier for the user to utilize different layers accordingly.
With Object browser support, a designer can do various operations on the
created layers and objects inside it. With Object browser feature, users can view,
select and work on different objects like Text Box, Picture Box, Compositions,
and Shapes, etc. The editing and operations on these objects can be done
irrespective of their z-order preference. This feature has enhanced the Layer
Palette of the application to add the feature to it. Hence, to display and work
with the QuarkXPress Boxes, the user has all the legacy layer handling
functionalities provided.
Inside the window menu > Open Layers palette.
