Use the JDF pane to indicate whether a Job Deﬁnition Format (JDF) ﬁle ●

should be created at the same time as the PDF ﬁle. You might choose to

do this if you’re using Job Jackets in a JDF workflow.

Use the Summary pane to view a summary of the selected PDF export ●

options.

Click OK. (To capture the current settings without creating a PDF ﬁle, click 6

Capture Settings.)

If you are using a third-party distiller program and you want to create a



PostScript ﬁle, change your settings in the PDF pane of the Preferences

dialog box (QuarkXPress/Edit menu). For more information, see “Preferences

— Application — PDF.”

Tagged PDF (PDF/UA)

In recent days, the digital publishing practices emphasize the importance of

Accessibility support. There has been demand from the corporate and

government organizations, in response to legislation such as the Americans

with Disabilities Act, and section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. As a

result, industry standards, such as WCAG have been introduced, to allow the

accessibility of information in published forms (both PDF, and websites

containing HTML output), to be certiﬁed, ensuring that the published

information is equally accessible to consumers with disabilities that every PDF

published must be accessible. QuarkXPress introduced tagged PDF already in

previous releases, and now it enhances the capabilities to produce PDF/UA

standard. QuarkXPress 2019 offers export to PDF with compliance for PDF/UA

(ISO 14289) and WCAG 2.0 standard.
