In addition to the settings in bullet, numbering, and outline styles, there is a
paragraph attribute called Minimum Bullet/Number Distance from Text, on the
Paragraph tab of the Measurements palette.
This value lets you handle situations where a left-aligned or center-aligned
number is pushing into the paragraph.
To increase and decrease the indent level of a paragraph, use the Paragraph tab
of the Measurements palette.
Quick access to Bullets & Numbering
QuarkXPress has come up with new toggle buttons (list buttons) in the Home
tab of measurement palette for text content mode. There are three buttons at
the rightmost end of the palette for Bullets, Numbering, and Outline style.
On clicking over arrow icons on the right side of the bullet style, numbering style,
and Outline style buttons, pop up menu for their styles will be invoked.
In the list, you can also view the actual Bullet character and the Numbering
format used in that Bullet and numbering style respectively.
Note: To change other local paragraph attributes related to Bullet &
Numbering, you still have to switch to the Paragraph tab of Measurement
palette.
In addition to the new quick buttons, QuarkXPress now has added a couple of
default Bullet and Numbering styles such as Square Bullet Style, Check Mark
Bullet Style, Lower Letter Numbering Style, and Lower Roman Numbering Style.
Working with bullet styles
A bullet style describes how a bullet should look, how far it should be from the
text, and how it should be aligned.
To create a bullet style, choose Edit > Bullet, Numbering, and Outline Styles,
then choose Bullet Style from the New button in the Bullet, Numbering, and
Outline Styles dialog box. The Edit Bullet Style dialog box displays.
