leaving local type styles (such as bold and italic) intact.
Apply Using Next Style & Retain Local Type Styles & OpenType Style: Applies style
sheets using Next Style, leaving both local type styles (such as bold and italic) and OpenType
type styles intact.
Apply Using Next Style & Remove Local Formatting: Applies style sheets using Next
Style, plus any local formatting necessary to maintain each paragraph's current appearance.
When local paragraph or character attributes exist in selected text, a plus sign displays
next to the style sheet name in the Style Sheets palette. To remove local attributes, click
No Style and then reselect the style sheet, or Option+click/Alt+click the style sheet name.
Appending style sheets
To import paragraph and character style sheets from a different article or project, choose
File > Append, navigate to the target article or project file, then display the Style Sheets
pane and import the style sheets you want.
If a style sheet from the source file has the same name as a style sheet in the target project,
but is defined differently, the Append Conflict dialog box displays. You can use this dialog
box to determine how such conflicts are handled.
Working with conditional styles
Conditional styles let you automatically apply formatting to text based on the content of
that text. For example, consider the text-formatting conventions shown in the following
