Working with non-breaking character sets
Non-breaking characters are characters that cannot begin or end a line, and also
which cannot be separated from each other at line breaks. The Non-Breaking
Character Set dialog box (Edit > Non-Breaking Character Sets) includes default
non-breaking character sets for Japanese Strong, Japanese Weak, Korean
Standard, Simplified Chinese Standard and Traditional Chinese Standard.
To create custom non-breaking character sets:
Choose Edit > Non-Breaking Character Sets. The Non-Breaking Character 1.
Sets dialog box displays.
Click New. 2.
Enter a name in the Name field. 3.
Enter characters in the Enter characters that cannot begin a line field, the 4.
Enter characters that cannot end a line field, and the Enter non-separable
characters field. The same character cannot be defined as Cannot Begin Line
character and Cannot End Line character.
Click OK. 5.
Click Save. 6.
To apply a non-breaking character set to a paragraph, choose one from the
Non-Breaking Char Set drop-down menu in the Edit Hyphenation &
Justification dialog box (Edit > H&Js > Edit).
Format painter
Format Painter allows you to copy formatting that is applied to one piece of text
and apply it to others. The Format Painter will copy and apply all formatting that
has been applied to that text including any applied style sheets (paragraph and
character).
To use the Format Painter:
Select the text with the desired formatting. 1.
Select the Format Painter in the Home or Character tab of the 2.
Measurements palette.
Select the text that you wish to apply the desired formatting to. 3.
IMPORTANT: Whether format painter applies only character formatting in addition
to paragraph formatting is determined by the original selection; if you select a few
characters, then only character formatting is applied, if you select several lines,
paragraph formatting is also applied. Style sheets are never applied using the Format
Painter.
