By choosing eBook (ePub, Kindle) from the Layout Type drop-down menu when
you create a new project.
By tagging and adding content from a Print layout.
If, when you create a new project, you choose eBook (ePub, Kindle) from the Layout
Type drop-down menu, QuarkXPress creates a project with a single Print layout with
a full-page picture box and a single reflow article with a default text component. You
should use the first page of the Print layout to create the cover for the ePub or Kindle
eBook, and use the reflow article to create its content. (Any pages you add after page
1 of the Print layout are not used when you export the layout as an ePub eBook.) When
you convert a Print layout as ePub or Kindle eBook, QuarkXPress will always export
the first page of the Print layout as an image and use it as a cover of your eBook.
If you choose to create a reflow article from a Print layout, the process is shown in the
following diagrams:
Step 1: Create the layout.
Step 2: Identify chapters or sections, and identify what parts of the layout you don't want
to include in text reflow view at all.
Step 3: Create reflow articles from each chapter and section, customize them for text reflow
view, and add semantic tags.
