Operation
Your First Transmit
Selecting a Channel
When you power on your KG-905G for the rst time, the display will likely show
“GMRS01” in the center with “CH-01” and “G-01” just above. GMRS01 is the name
of the currently selected channel. G-01 is the currently selected channel group, and
CH-01 is the channel number within the group. Turn the Channel Knob or the [UP] /
[DOWN] arrow keys to navigate through the list of channels.
As a licensed GMRS user you are allowed to use any of the channels. e channel you
choose isn’t as important as making sure it’s the same channel the rest of your group is
using. Be sure the channel you select is also supported by the equipment everyone else
in your group is using.
Most rules for GMRS are the same for all channels, but there are a few dierences,
particularly concerning output power. e KG-905G divides the GMRS channels into
4 groups, with the following dierences:

Group 01: Standard GMRS channels 1-7. ese channels are limited to 5 watts of
