Dual Aisle Configurations
The Scalar 10K Dual Aisle configuration is a self contained
library that can be configured with one to four media types.
In a Dual Aisle configuration, two CMs, two AMs, and two
inside TMs are required in every library. The two AMs are
positioned back to back with shared TMs in the middle to
hold/transfer the data media. Each aisle has its own cartridge
accessor. Maintenance can be performed on one AM while
the other continues to perform.
The basic, required configuration can be expanded to a
configuration with six EMs. the optional EMs are added in
pairs and extend the length of the aisle. Each pair of EMs
requires two inside TMs. An optional DM and outside TM are
added as storage and drive requirements change.
Scalar Distributed Library Control (DLC) is required in this
configuration. There are two types of Scalar DLC
configuration options: single server or dual (redundant)
servers. For more information about Scalar DLC, refer to
Scalar DLC on page 2-19.
The Distributed AML Server (DAS) is also required for a Dual
Aisle configuration. For more information about DAS, refer
to DAS product documentation.
For drive types and capacities in a fully populated Dual Aisle
configuration, see
Table 3-9.
