Capacity-on-Demand Configurations
The COD configuration is a self contained library that can be
configured with one of four media types; however, you
cannot mix media types in any COD system. The COD can be
expanded from a basic library configuration to a basic library
with three EMs. COD systems do not include TMs.
The COD configurations are based on a minimum purchase
of 700 cartridge slots. Additional storage can be enabled with
an authorization string.
For drive types and capacities, see Table 3-1.
Table 3-1 Maximum Drive Types/Capacities
With the COD configuration, you purchase a minimum
number of storage slots. As your storage needs increase,
Quantum enables the additional storage slots in blocks of 100
or 500 using a security key. This is done without needing to
buy additional hardware.
When all the storage slots are enabled, you can purchase
additional EMs that contain more storage slots.
When you grow beyond the maximum capacity offered by
COD configuration, you can purchase additional modules.
Three COD configurations are available: a basic
configuration, a basic configuration with two EMs, and a
basic configuration with three EMs.
