Overview
This chapter contains information to help you select the
configuration that best meets your needs. This chapter is
organized as follows:

System Configuration Overview
The Scalar 10K can be configured as a Capacity-On-Demand
(COD) configuration, Customer-Specific configuration, or a
Dual Aisle configuration.
The COD configuration allows you to expand the number of
used tape cartridge locations in the future. For more
information, refer to
Capacity-on-Demand Configurations on
page 3-4.
The Customer-Specific configuration (also known as the
Component configuration) is built to your specifications. The
minimum configuration is one Control Module (CM) and one
Accessor Module (AM). For more information, refer to
Customer-Specific Configurations on page 3-8.
The minimum Dual Aisle configuration includes two CMs, two
AMs, and two inside Tower Modules (TMs). The library can be
expanded if more storage capacity is desired. For more
information, refer to
Dual Aisle Configurations on page 3-14.
