Automatic drive cleaning is disabled by default. In automatic drive 
cleaning mode the library is responsible for all cleaning functions such as:
• Detecting when a drive requires cleaning
• Tracking and selecting cleaning cartridges
• Moving a cleaning cartridge to the drive
• Determining when a cleaning cartridge has used all of its available 
cleaning cycles
• Moving used up cartridges to the load port

The cleaning mode is selectable from the:
• Diagnostic Software
• GUI
• Mode Select Command
The default cleaning mode is host-initiated. A Mode Select command 
permanently changes the cleaning mode in the library’s NVRAM, and is 
retained if the library power is cycled.

To change automatic cleaning mode from the diagnostic software select 
Config:
•
Enable clean tape - turns automatic cleaning mode on
•
Disable clean tape - turns automatic cleaning mode off
Note: If the libraries are running in a multiple frame configuration, a 
cleaning tape must be inside each unit.
