The centralised management made it possible to
synchronise testing operations. It often happens
that because of changes made by one employee
several other people have to do their work anew
and repeat tests they have already made,” says
Ivan Shtepa. “HP Quality Center minimises such
unproductive actions and helps to establish the
right sequence of tasks. Employees could evaluate
the job they had done, not with their own criteria
but according to uniform rules. Each of them
clearly understood their duties and their area of
responsibility. When a person understands his
or her role in the whole process, they feel more
comfortable about the work they do.”
The use of Quality Center while testing the new ABS
version was considered so successful by Alfa-Bank
management that most of the methodologies
developed during the project were expanded to
all IT divisions.
“Alfa-Bank’s ABS architecture is fully centralised. The
ABS interacts with more than 50 information systems
and over 900 interfaces. The transition to a new ABS
could be loosely compared to a heart transplant
operation. Such that a patient can’t stop breathing
and none of the patient’s life-sustaining organs can
stop functioning, likewise in our business we couldn’t
risk major systems failure. Our transition would not
have been possible without HP Quality Center,” says
Sergey Radul, director, architecture and strategy
management, Alfa-Bank.
