u Using trip information
It’s important that you send the correct message at the correct point during your trip.
Companies use the information in these messages in ways that can directly impact
you. Some examples are:
• If you don’t send the arrival message at the right time, you may be considered late
for that assignment.
• Your company may compare the time of your arrival and departure messages for
a shipper. This information can help your company work with the shipper to reduce
the time you are delayed in the yard.
• Many companies use your messages to complete the billing accounts for a load. If
you send the correct messages at the right point during the trip, the resolution of
the account can be smoother and less likely to have errors, which might mean you
can be paid for the trip sooner.
• You might not receive your next assignment until your company confirms you
completed the current assignment.
If you have any questions about what canned messages to use or when to send them,
contact your dispatcher or fleet manager.
