16 Getting to Know Your Phone Preliminary Draft

Turning your phone on and off
To turn the phone on
To use your phone or to receive calls, you must turn it on.
1. Hold down the End/Power key for about a second until
you see “Searching” on your display and your Home screen
appears.
2. Once your phone is on, check your display icons to see if you
are receiving a signal:
❑ should appear on your display, indicating your phone
is receiving a signal
❑ should not appear on your display, indicating you
temporarily do not have service. Wait a few minutes or
move to an open area.
To turn the phone off
To save the battery, turn your phone off when you are not using it
or waiting for a call. When your phone is off, others trying to
contact you can still leave voice and text messages and pages.
■ Hold down the End or Power key for about a second
until you see “Powering off” on your display.
