Performing Rekey Procedures
When the phone powers up and determines that it has expired or seed keys, it will notify
you. When the phone powers up and determines that a rekey is pending because of an
interrupted rekey operation, it will also notify you. After confirming the notification, you can
continue to operate the phone.
You must log on to your phone as a secure user before rekeying your phone. When you
select a rekey mode, the phone displays a rekey idle display for this mode. While this
display is shown, you can place a call to the Rekey center. Incoming calls are not allowed
during rekey mode, nor is Secure Dial (see “To Transmit Characters Using Secure Dial”
on page 33).
From the
Security
,
Key Management, Rekey
menu item, you can rekey seed and
expired keys, rekey all keys or disable rekey.

If you have not logged on as a secure user, you will be prompted to do so. See “To

Note
When you place an emergency call during rekey mode, the phone exits and
disables this mode. Any non-emergency call placed during rekey mode will be
treated as a rekey call. Transition to a clear call during rekey is not permitted.
