Automated Dialing Methods
Making a Call Using Speed Dial
Using the Speed Dial method, you can dial a phone number quickly by entering a one or
two-digit slot number. By entering the most commonly-dialed numbers into the Speed Dial
list, you do not need to go through all the numbers in your Contacts list in order to dial
these numbers.
For information on adding, viewing and deleting Speed Dial entries, refer to “Using the
Speed Dial List” on page 67.
To Make a Call Using Speed Dial
1
Access the Home screen.
2
Press and hold the number key corresponding to the slot number. If the slot number
is a two-digit number, press the first number key, and then press and hold the
second number key.
The phone number corresponding to this slot number is dialed.
Making a Call from the Contacts List
The Contacts list contains all of your contacts, including their phone numbers. From the
Contacts application, you can select a number and dial it.
For information on adding and editing contacts, refer to “Using the Contacts Database” on
page 59.

Note
Using the Speed Dial method is analogous to entering a number and pressing
the Send/Talk ( ) key (not pressing and holding it). Therefore, you can only

secure or Secure-only (see “Determining Your Phone’s Strapping” on page 21).
Note
If the slot number you entered is not associated with a contact (i.e., it is empty),
a message appears on the screen and no call is made.
