Entering Text into an Alphanumeric Field

To enter a letter, press the number key corresponding to that letter as many times
as it takes to get to that letter. For example, to enter a “c”, press the “2” key three
times. You cycle through “a” and “b”, and end up with a “c”. You can also enter a
number in Multitap text mode by cycling through all the letters until the number
appears on the screen.

Press the pound (#) key to enter a space, or hold down the asterisk (*) key and press
a number key to enter an upper-case letter.
To Enter Numbers into an Alphanumeric Field

Make sure the cursor is inside the alphanumeric field.

Press the Select ( ) key to access the screen keys below this field.

Scroll to the [Multitap]/[Numbers] screen key. If this screen key is set to [Multitap],
select it and then select
Numbers
from the Text Mode menu.

To enter a number, press the corresponding number key. You can also enter the
asterisk (*) and pound (#) characters by pressing those keys.
To Enter Symbols into an Alphanumeric Field

Make sure the cursor is inside the alphanumeric field, in the space where you want
to insert the symbol (punctuation).

Press the Select ( ) key to access the screen keys below this field.

Select the [Multitap]/[Numbers] screen key, and then select
Symbols
from the Text
Mode menu.
The Symbols screen appears, displaying a symbol for each of the number keys.

Scroll up or down to switch to another page of symbols. There are four pages of
symbols loaded on the phone (30 total symbols).

Press the number key corresponding to the symbol you want to enter.
The symbol is inserted into this field, and you are returned to either Multitap or
Numbers text mode, depending on which mode you were in prior to entering the
symbol.
Note
You must press the number key rapidly, because any pause in the pressing will
result in the current letter being entered (and the cursor moving to the next
space).
