Entering Text into an Alphanumeric Field
In numeric fields such as the phone number field, you can only enter numbers. However,
you can enter numbers, letters, and punctuation (symbols) into an alphanumeric field such
as the mailing address field.
To Enter Letters into an Alphanumeric Field
1
Make sure the cursor is inside an alphanumeric field.
2
Press the Select ( ) key to access the screen keys below this field.
3
Scroll to the [Multitap]/[Numbers] screen key. If this screen key is set to [Numbers],
select it and then select
Multitap
from the Text Mode menu.
Note
Make sure the contact you select is a QSec phone.
Note
Make sure the number you select is the basic phone number of the QSec phone,
not the async (secure) number. If you accidentally enter the async number and
attempt to save it as a QSec type, all calls to that phone will fail. To delete and
re-enter such a contact, see “To Customize/Edit an Existing Contact” on
page 66.
