Understanding QSec Type Phone Numbers
Selecting and dialing a number stored in Contacts is the preferred way to use your phone
to make secure calls. In particular, calls to other QUALCOMM phones, including the
QSec-800 phone and the QSec-2700 phone, should be saved in Contacts as a QSec type
number
(
)
. Additional information is saved with a QSec number during secure calls to
ensure that subsequent secure calls connect in the preferred mode, and in the quickest
time. If the number of a QSec phone is not stored as QSec type, it will automatically be
changed to QSec type during the first secure call to the QSec phone.
Most QSec-2700 phones have two phone numbers: a basic phone number (called “clear”
number on the QSec-800 phone), and an async number (called “secure” number on the
QSec-800 phone). Make sure you enter the basic phone number (including the area code)
into Contacts. See “To View Your Phone Numbers” on page 13 to access these numbers.
Calls from a QSec-2700 phone can be made to other FNBDT-interoperable devices. The
numbers for these types of phones should be saved as Work ( ), Home ( ) or Mobile
( ) types, not as QSec types.
Note
The quick (shortcut) method to access your Contacts list is by pressing the
Right navigation key from the Home screen.
The Contacts database cannot be entered during a secure call. See “Making
Secure Calls” on page 31 for information on limitations during a secure call.
Note
If you dial the number of a QSec-2700 phone directly without first saving the
number in Contacts, the call may connect in a non-preferred mode, and may not
have the shortest possible setup time.
