Erasing Old Text Messages
When available memory falls below 25% of the total memory and you select the
Messages
,
Inbox
menu item, the phone beeps and a low-memory warning appears.
When the phone runs out of memory, it does not accept any new text messages. The out-
of-memory warning contains an option to erase all old messages from the InBox.
To Erase Old Text Messages Manually

From the Home screen, press the Select ( ) key.

Scroll to the
Messages
tab, and press the Select ( ) key.

From the Messages menu, select
Erase Messages
.
The Erase Messages screen appears.

Select one of the following options:
"
No:
returns to the Messages menu without deleting messages
"
Entire InBox:
deletes all messages in the InBox. From the confirmation
prompt, select [Yes] to delete the entire InBox, or select [No] to cancel this
action.
"
Entire Outbox:
deletes all messages in the OutBox. From the
confirmation prompt, select [Yes] to delete the entire OutBox, or select [No]
to cancel this action.
"
Old Inbox:
deletes all read (old) messages in the InBox. From the
confirmation prompt, select [Yes] to delete all the old InBox messages, or
select [No] to cancel this action.
To Erase Old Messages Automatically
You can set up your phone to automatically erase as many old messages as needed to
make room for new messages. Perform the following procedure to enable the phone to
automatically erase old messages:

From the Home screen, press the Select ( ) key.

Scroll to the
Messages
tab, and press the Select ( ) key.

From the Messages menu, select
Message Settings
,
Auto Erase Old Inbox
.
Note
When the phone runs out of memory, you must erase old text messages in order
to free up memory. Alternatively, you can set up your phone to automatically
erase old text messages whenever necessary (see “To Erase Old Messages
Automatically” on page 56).
