Sending Text Messages

The text message appears on the screen. It includes a time/date stamp, the contact
name (if applicable), and a callback number (see “To Return a Call” on page 57 for
details on dialing this number). The message auto-scrolls page-by-page so you can
read its entire body.

Press the Up or Down navigation keys to manually scroll through the message line-
by-line.
Sending Text Messages
You can send text messages to a phone number or e-mail address. You can send a
standard text message, where you manually enter the entire text of the message.
Alternatively, you can send a preformatted text message, where the start of the message
is already entered for you.
To Send Standard Text Messages

From the Home screen, press the Select ( ) key.

Scroll to the
Messages
tab, and press the Select ( ) key.

From the Messages menu, select
Create Message
.
The Send To field appears.

Enter the destination address (a phone number or an e-mail address), or select
[Contacts] to retrieve an address from the Contacts list (see “Using the Contacts
Database” on page 59 for details on entering and editing contacts).

Press the Select ( ) key twice to select [Continue].

Enter the message text. A count of the number of characters left to use is displayed
in the top left corner of the screen. See the note above to change the text entry
method. Select [Continue] when you are done entering the message.
The Message Options screen appears.
Note
To change the text entry method, scroll to [Numbers] and select it, then select
one of the following options.

Multitap:
standard text entry method. Press the number key
corresponding to the letter as many times as necessary to enter that
letter.
!
Numbers:
enters numbers corresponding to each number key
!
Symbols:
enters a symbol corresponding to a number key
