Making and Receiving Data Calls
Making Clear Async Data Calls
Clear async data calls are initiated by a computer or handheld device (not by your phone).
To make a clear async data call, you first need to set the data rate for the call in your
communications application. Then, you execute two AT commands to initiate the call.
To Make a Clear Async Data Call
Before starting this procedure, make sure that the data cable (model DXDTA0011) is
attached to the bottom of the phone, and to the 9-pin serial COM port of the computer or
handheld device.
1
Open a communications application loaded to your computer or handheld device
(such as HyperTerminal)
2
In this application, set the data rate to 115200 b/s.
3
In this application, execute one of the following AT commands:
"
“at$qcvad3” (for one data call)
or
"
“at$qcvad4” (for multiple data calls: allows you to make other data calls
without reentering this command)
4
In this application, execute the “atdt<{clear number}>” command to initiate the clear
call. {clear number} is the clear number of the receiving phone.
A few seconds after connecting, the application displays “CONNECT”.
Your phone displays "Calling data…" while the clear async data call is being
established. Once connected, your phone displays the duration of this data call in
hh:mm:ss format, and the in-call indicator.
5
Transfer text or files using the communications application.
6
To end this data call, press the Power/End-call ( ) key on your phone, or execute
the following AT commands in the application:
"
“+++” (interrupt the call)
"
“ath” (end the call)
Note
If the ‘Clear Data’ Access Control setting is disabled, you will not be able to
make a clear async data call (see “Viewing Access Control Settings” on
page 22).
Note
If you want to make sure the phone is communicating with the application, type
“at” and press ENTER. The application should respond with “OK”.
