Receiving Secure Data Calls

Receiving Secure Data Calls
To receive a secure data call, you first need to set the desired data rate for the call (see
“To Set the Data Rate for a Secure Data Call” on page 38). Then, make sure that the data
cable (model DXDTA0011) is attached to the bottom of the phone, and to the 9-pin serial
COM port of the computer or handheld device. When the phone rings, simply answer it as
you would a normal secure call (see “Receiving Secure Calls” on page 33).
If you have not entered your PIN prior to receiving the secure data call, you are prompted
to enter it. After entering your PIN, the message “TBD-Going Secure Data” appears,
followed by a series of other messages. To end this data call, press the Power/End-call
() key.
Receiving Secure Data Calls with Single-number
Phones
If your phone does not have a separate basic phone number and async number (see
“About Your Phone Number(s)” on page 13), you receive a secure data call using one of
the following methods:
!
Arrange to make a clear voice call with the other party, and then transition to a
secure data call. This is the recommended way to receive a secure data call when
the other party is using a QSec-2700 or QSec-800 phone (unless either phone is
strapped Secure-only). See “Transitioning from Clear Voice Calls to Secure Data
Calls” on page 47 for details on making this transition.
!
TBD-Prepare to receive the next incoming call as a secure data call. This is the only
way to receive a secure data call from a QSec phone that is strapped Secure-only.
This can be executed by talking to the other party in a clear call, and arranging for
that party to initiate a secure data call to your phone in a minute or so. You then
select the TBD-
Security
,
Next Call
,
In Secure
Data
menu item. The next incoming
call is answered as a secure data call.
Note
If the ‘Secure Data’ Access Control setting on your phone is disabled, you will
not be able to receive a secure data call (see “Viewing Access Control Settings
on page 22).
While engaged in a secure data call, you can still access the Security menu.
Note
TBD-The In Secure Data menu item must be selected before the incoming
secure data call can be received. Any outgoing call will reset this setting to
Normal. Also, this menu item is only available for single-number phones.
