Making and Receiving Secure
Calls
Your QSec-2700 phone can make secure voice calls. Before making secure calls, you will
need to know your PIN in order to log on to your phone (see “About Your Secure PIN” on
page 19). You will also need to know how your phone is strapped (see “Determining Your
Phone’s Strapping” on page 21).

Making Secure Calls
Before making a secure call, make sure your phone is not connected to an external power
source (e.g., the travel charger). You can make a secure call in one of the following ways:

Make a clear call, and then transition to secure mode by selecting the [Go Secure
Voice] screen key (see “To Transition from a Clear Call to a Secure Call” on
page 45).

Select a number from the Contacts database, and press or press and hold the Send/
Talk ( ) key (see “Making a Call from the Contacts List” on page 74).

Dial the secure number directly (see the following procedure).

Press the Send/Talk ( ) key once to bring up the last outgoing number, then
press or press and hold the Send/Talk ( ) key to redial this number.

Select a number from the Recent Calls application, and press or press and hold the
Send/Talk ( ) key (see “Making a Call from Recent Calls” on page 75).
Note
See “Determining Your Phone’s Strapping” on page 21 to determine whether
you press or press and hold the Send/Talk ( ) key to initiate a secure call.
Note
It is highly recommended that you enter numbers into your Contacts database
before making secure calls to them. See “Understanding QSec Type Phone
Numbers” on page 59 to understand the reason for this recommendation. See
“Entering contacts” on page 61 for details on entering a secure number as a
new contact.
Note
You can use Speed Dial to make a secure call if your phone is strapped Auto-
secure or Secure-only (see “Making a Call Using Speed Dial” on page 74).
