Making and Receiving Clear Calls
Your QSec-2700 phone can make secure voice calls (see “Making and Receiving Secure
Calls” on page 31). Depending on how your phone was strapped by the Terminal
Administrator, you may be able to make clear (non-secure) voice calls as well. See
“Determining Your Phone’s Strapping” on page 21 to determine whether or not you can
make clear calls.
In this section, you will learn to

Making Clear Calls
As long as your phone is strapped Traditional or Auto-secure, you will be able to make
clear calls. The Security Strap setting is controlled by the Terminal Administrator.
You can make a clear call in one of the following ways:
!
Dial the number directly (see the following procedure)
!
From the Home screen, press the Send/Talk ( ) key twice to redial the last
outgoing number.
!
Use one of the auto-dial methods (see “Automated Dialing Methods” on page 73)
!
Transition from a secure call to a clear call (see “To Transition from a Secure Call to
a Clear Call” on page 46)
Note
If the phone is strapped secure-only, all non-emergency calls made on the
phone are secure calls. However, emergency calls will always be treated as
clear calls.
Note
You can make a new clear call while engaged in another clear call (which puts
the first clear call on hold).
