Viewing Access Control Settings
The
Security
,
Access Control
menu item allows you to view the Access Control settings
(formerly User Privilege Vector (UPV) settings). These settings specify the level of security
for secure voice and data communications, as well as other security-related
configurations and privileges.
In most cases, your Terminal Administrator is responsible for configuring the Access
Control settings of your phone. These settings determine the following:
!
Your phone’s strapping (see the previous section)
!
If you can change your secure user PIN
!
If you can make a secure voice or secure data call
!
If you can make a clear data call
!
If you can download key material or update your phone’s software
!
If you can use the far-field speaker during a secure call
!
If your phone is allowed to receive GPS signals
!
What level of secure voice or secure data call you can make or receive when
connecting to another FNBDT-capable (secure) phone
If you do not have a Terminal Administrator, or if you are responsible for setting your
phone’s Access Control settings, contact the NSA (http://wireless.securephone.net
) to
request a copy of the
QSec-2700 Phone Terminal Administrator Guide.
It describes the
procedures that you will need to perform in order to set up your phone.
Note
The Min/Max security levels listed on page 24 and page 25 ultimately depend on
the key material loaded on your phone. For example, if you only have
Confidential keys loaded on your phone, then the classification of a call
involving your phone cannot be Secret or Top Secret, regardless of the Max
Security Level Voice setting.
