Determining Your Phone’s Security Settings
When entering a PIN, your phone displays asterisks ( s). These asterisks
represent the digits in your PIN.
To Change Your PIN
You will not be able to change the secure user PIN if a call is in progress, or if your phones
‘User Pin Change’ Access Control setting is disabled (see “Viewing Access Control
Settings” on page 22). Otherwise, use the following procedure to change your PIN.
1
From the Home screen, press the Select ( ) key.
2
Scroll to the
Security
tab, and press the Select ( ) key.
The Security menu appears.
3
Select
PIN
, then
Change Secure User PIN
.
4
Enter your current secure user PIN and press the Select ( ) key twice to select
[OK].
5
Enter your new secure user PIN and press the Select ( ) key twice to select
[OK]. Your new secure user PIN must adhere to the following conditions:
"
Be between four digits and 12 digits in length (numbers only)
"
Not be made up of all the same digit, for example 1111
"
Not be made up of consecutive digits, for example 1234 or 4321
6
Reenter your new secure user PIN and press the Select ( ) key twice to select
[OK].
You are notified if your new secure user PIN is accepted. Otherwise, you must
repeat steps 4 through 6.
Caution
If you enter your PIN incorrectly three times, the phone disables your
account and removes all secure capability. The phone must be returned to
the Terminal Administrator for reactivation. You can still make emergency
and clear calls after your secure account is disabled.
Note
If you do not enter a secure user PIN within two minutes, the PIN entry will
timeout (but not count as a failed attempt).
Note
If you are not permitted to change your secure user PIN, your phone displays
an alert (the Terminal Administrator can restrict PINs from being changed).
