Learning about Your Phone
About the Secure LED
The red (secure) LED is a visual indicator of your phone’s secure status. When your
phone’s secure LED is:
Memory Usage
All applications that reside on your phone share your phone’s built-in memory. These can
be factory-installed applications such as Contacts and Scheduler, or BREW applications
(apps) that are downloaded using MobileShop (see “Using MobileShop” on page 97).
The number of applications you can store or have active at any given time depends on the
size of each application. If you try to download or activate too many applications, your
phone will alert you to this situation. You will then either have to delete or close one or
more applications, depending on the alert.
Tamper-evident Features
Your QSec-2700 phone is a National Security Agency certified Type 1 secure device that
has tamper-evident features integrated into its construction. Never attempt to open the
phone or alter the label on the back of the phone (under the battery).
In the event your phone does not operate properly, contact your Terminal Administrator for
instructions on obtaining service. Only Q
UALCOMM
is authorized to repair QSec-2700
phones.

On Continuously
(not blinking)
Your phone is performing a trusted operation. Information on the
screen that is preceded with a red bar (on the left side) is trusted,
and can be considered secure and reliable. Information
not
preceded by a red bar is
not secure
and
cannot be trusted
.
The secure LED is on continuously while you are engaged in a
secure call, using the Security menu, or turning on/off your
phone.

Blinking Your phone’s microphone is on but
not
secure
. Blinking is
normal during clear calls. You should confirm that the secure
LED does not blink after a clear call ends (contact your Terminal
Administrator if the LED keeps blinking).
