Troubleshooting
Voice Characteristics
Lag time for my voice is
too long
This is a normal characteristic of secure calls. Be patient
during secure calls, and try to alternate speaking regularly
and predictably with the other user. Try not to interrupt the
other user.
Lag time for my voice is
different from call to call
Calls between QSec-2700 phones may connect in a mode
that allows the voice lag time to be very short. Calls to STEs
or other secure phones may connect in a mode that has a
long lag time. Make sure the QSec numbers you are dialing
are entered into the Contacts list (see “Understanding QSec
Type Phone Numbers” on page 59).
Voice quality is poor, and
varies from call to call
Voice quality is often better during clear calls. To ensure the
maximum quality for secure voice calls, make sure the QSec
numbers you are dialing are entered into the Contacts list
(see “Understanding QSec Type Phone Numbers” on
page 59).
Voice quality is poor
during some secure calls
It is normal for voice quality to vary between secure calls,
depending on what type of phone is engaged in the call, and
what type of secure call the phone connected in.
Phone Sound/Display
Phone volume is too low or
too high
Increase or decrease the volume by pressing the Up or
Down navigation key, respectively, during a call.
Phone display is too dark Use the
Settings, Display, Contrast
menu item to change
the level of contrast of the display. See “To Configure the
Phone’s Display” on page 79.
Icons are not visible during
secure software
download, or key loading
This is normal behavior. The icons that are normally
displayed at the top of the screen are not visible during
secure software loading, or key loading from a DTD.
Cannot see sent or
received calls
To access the recent calls you have sent and/or received,
see “Accessing Recent Calls” on page 69.
Battery
Battery life is too brief Your battery’s performance is affected by talk time versus
idle time, feature use, temperature, backlight use, and other
factors. See “Battery Performance Times” on page 107.
If the battery takes a long time to charge or loses a charge
quickly, it may be time to replace your battery (see “Installing
a New Battery” on page 109).
