Press down on the top of the battery until it locks.
Disposing of the Battery
It is illegal in some areas to dispose of lithium ion batteries in household or business trash.
Contact your local recycling center for safe disposal options.
Caring for the Battery

To conserve power when the battery is low, you can switch the backlight off (see “To
Configure the Phone’s Display” on page 79).
!
Do not disassemble or short-circuit the battery.
!
Keep the metal contacts at the base of the battery clean.
!
If you have not used a standard or slim battery for more than a month, recharge it
before using it.
!
If you have not used your phone in more than six months (e.g., because it has been
stored in inventory), recharge the battery before using the phone.
!
Replace the battery when it no longer maintains a charge.
!
Do not use the charger in direct sunlight or in places with extremely high humidity.
!
Never dispose of the battery in or by a fire. It could explode.

Valid temperature range for battery charging is:
0 ºC to +40 ºC (+3 ºF to +104 ºF)

Valid temperature range for battery storage:

1 month: -20 ºC to +60 ºC (-4 ºF to +140 ºF)
"
3 months: -20 ºC to +40 ºC (-4 ºF to +104 ºF)
"
1 Year: -20 ºC to +20 ºC (-4 ºF to +68 ºF)
Warning
Do not handle a damaged or leaking lithium ion battery. Injury may result.
Note
In order to provide the maximum capacity and longest life, QUALCOMM
recommends that lithium ion batteries held in storage for extended periods be
recharged annually.
