Children
Your NIU is not a toy. Children should not play with it. They could hurt
themselves or others or damage the NIU.
Blasting areas
Unplug the AC adaptor and set the on/off switch to the off (O) position
when you are in a blasting area or in any area posted “turn off two-way
radio.” Construction crews often use remote-control RF devices to set off
explosives.
Potentially explosive areas
Unplug the AC adaptor, set the on/off switch to the off (O) position, and
obey all signs and instructions when you are in an area with a potentially
explosive atmosphere. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire
resulting in bodily injury or even death.
These areas are often, but not always, clearly marked. They include the
following.
• Fueling areas such as gas stations
• Below deck on boats
• Fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities
• Vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane)
• Areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust,
or metal powders
• Any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off your
vehicle engine
Standards
Be certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line, based on
their REN B ratings. The REN B is useful in determining the quantity of
devices that you may connect to your telephone line and still have all of
those devices ring when your telephone number is called. In most but not
all areas, the sum of the REN B ratings of all devices connected to one line
should not exceed five (5.0).
