NOTE
This change affects the beep length received by the device you are
contacting. When changing the setting you will not perceive a different
beep length on your telephone.
Checking signal strength
To check the network signal strength in the location of the NIU antenna:
Ensure the antenna is positioned vertically. Lift the handset. Dial on
your touchtone telephone:
When you check the signal strength, a beeping indicates service. Faster
beeping indicates greater signal strength. The phone will not beep if the
signal strength is below a usable level.
Replace the handset to end the signal strength check.
Resetting defaults
To cancel the settings for the customizing features and return them all to
their default settings:
Lift the handset. Dial on your touchtone telephone:
Call Restriction
Call restriction is an advanced feature that allows you to restrict your phone
from making certain types of calls. Trying to make a restricted call will
result in a rejection tone, followed by a dial tone.
On the NIU, you may choose a predefined call restriction level, or you may
customize the call restriction level. Nine different levels are available.
<lengths> = 0 for normal; 1 for long. Zero is the default.
