Setting NIU prearrangement for incoming data or fax calls
This section is applicable only if your service provider supports
prearrangement. Prearrangement establishes the desired classification of
service with the network service provider for either one call within the next
ten minutes or all incoming calls until deactivated. To set the phone for
prearrangement:
Use either your computer’s communication software or your touchtone
telephone to dial:
There are five settings: 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4.
0 Receive only voice calls (This is the default setting.)
1 Receive one incoming fax call within 10 minutes
2 Receive only fax calls
3 Receive one incoming data call within 10 minutes
4 Receive only data calls
NOTE
If the NIU is set to receive fax or data calls, you must reset it to #823 0# to
receive voice calls. Otherwise, any voice callers will hear a modem sound. If
settings 1 or 3 above are selected, the NIU will revert to receiving only voice
calls after receiving one fax or data call, or after 10 minutes have elapsed.
EXAMPLE
To set the phone for prearrangement to receive a fax within the next 10
minutes, dial #823 1 #
