Data features
Making and receiving a data call is similar to the procedure for voice calls.
As with all other network services, this data feature requires service
provider support. Before you make a data call, you should have the required
equipment and refer to your modem manual for optimal settings for your
communication software.
Connecting data equipment
To use the data features, you must have the following equipment:
• Computer, with internal or external data modem (V. series or Bell
protocol)
• Communication software or terminal program
• RJ-11 telephone cable
Connect the equipment as follows:
Follow your modem
instructions for correct
installation of modem
hardware and software.
Connect one end of the
telephone cable to the
telephone jack labeled “line”
on your modem. Connect the
other end to a telephone jack
on the back of your NIU.
(Optional) Connect the
touchtone telephone to the
modem.
Connect the AC adaptor to
the NIU and plug it into the
wall socket.
