Chapter 12
Web
The pdQ smartphone web application, Web, is one of QUALCOMM’s
newest wireless communications solutions. It defines a new
Internet browser standard and gives you quick access to Internet
sites. Web makes moving between sites and scrolling through
documents a snap. As an added bonus, internet searches exclude banners
and graphics, which saves you time. Once Web is set up, it takes only a
couple of taps to visit an Internet site anywhere in the world!
Before searching the Internet, you need to define:
Modem preferences
Network preferences
You also need to establish an account for network services with an Internet
Service Provider (ISP). The pdQ Basics Handbook lists the information the
ISP provides.
With Web, you can:
Create an unlimited number of bookmarks (web addresses).
Sort web site bookmarks by categories.
Navigate the web using a scroll bar and hotlinks.
You can use the Web to perform operations like these:
Tap the scroll bar on the right of the screen to scroll through text.
Tap the arrows on the bottom of the screen to move forward and
backward.
Tap bold text to visit a different site.
Here are a few more tips for getting around:
Tap Details to learn more about a site.
Tap Bookmark this Page to add a bookmark.
Tap Refresh this Page to reload the site.
