Cable Installation
1. Install the convoluted tubing on the cable.
Caution
Do not tie the cable to the headache racks. Headache racks are mounted to the
chassis and move at different rates than the body.
2. Starting at the SDM, run the cables down the back of the sleeper/cab and under the
body toward the MAS. If possible, route the cable using existing brackets as tie points.
Side skirt boomerang brackets work well for this purpose.
Caution
Loose cables can cause damage to paint and wear to the fiberglass. Ensure that
the cables are secured to the body of the truck at approximately 18-inch intervals.
3. Drill an access hole through the bottom of the cab to enter the interior of the
compartment where the MAS is installed (usually drilled through the bottom, not the
side). Drill the smallest hole for the purpose. A 1-
1/2 inch hole is recommended for
cables with a 9-pin DSUB connector.
4. Store excess cable, neatly coiled, within the confines of the MAS mounting tray.
Cable Connection
To connect the SDM cable to the SDM, follow the steps in
Connecting the SDM Cable
on
page 5-3.
If the cable does not easily connect to the SDM cable connector, check the part number of
the cable to make sure you are using the SDM cable. The end of the SDM cable is keyed
specifically for the SDM.
To connect the SDM cable connector to the appropriate terminal of the MAS, follow the steps
in
Connecting Cables to the Mobile Application Server (MAS)
on page 8-8.
