Consider the owner’s preference in selecting the installation location and whether there is a
team or a single driver.
Make sure there is enough clearance to lift the unit out of the holster easily.
Before you install the device on a map box or glove compartment door, measure to make
sure the driver can open the compartment after the device is installed.
The following illustration shows a typical location for the MDU in a cabover vehicle. In the
example, the cable is routed to the right of the device so that the driver can easily pull the
device toward the driver’s seat.
Installing the MDU Holster
Follow these steps to install the holster for the MDU.
1. If you are replacing the DU or EDU with the MDU, disconnect the DU or EDU and
remove the existing holster.
Note
QUALCOMM recommends that you use the backing plate to strengthen the mounting
surface.
