Selecting a Location
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Do not locate the display unit where it obstructs the driver’s field of vision, distracts the driver
from the driving task, or interferes with the driver’s operation of controls or displays.
Each display unit is equipped with a holster that holds and protects the device when it is not in
use. The holster can be installed inside the cab in a number of locations, including the
following:
• Map box door
• Engine cover (“dog house”)
• Behind the passenger’s seat
• In the sleeper compartment
Note
If the display unit is mounted where the driver cannot see the message waiting light, a remote
message waiting light can be installed on the dashboard. Refer to Chapter 15: Remote
Message Waiting Light Installation for more information.
Select an installation location where:
• The driver can easily see the message waiting light from his seat.
• The mounting surface is flat.
• The device will not be positioned high in the cab.
• The device will not be stored in constant, direct sunlight.
• The device will not limit a passenger’s leg room or block access to the wiring panel or any
other compartments.
• The device will not fall out of the holster when the vehicle is in motion.
Caution
The display unit is not to be used by the driver while the vehicle is in motion.
